This is terribly sad news that fire engines that are supposed to be bought around $100k were each bought at $400k flexing taxpayers in excess of $300k each. The Beitbridge border post was constructed at over $300ml when it could have cost $150ml or less. The list goes on and on
Don’t forget those who cheered him on - those who held spaces to tell us he was a champion of democracy. That he was fighting a dictator called @nelsonchamisa. Those who stood up to say they know him. They are part of this.
The real problem is that General Constantino Chiwenga allowed Emmerson Mnangagwa to remove the running mate clause through Constitutional Amendment No. 2 in 2021, @RobsonMashiri.
Mnangagwa is a long-distance runner. He plans his moves carefully and, whether we like him or not, we have to acknowledge that. He knew exactly what he wanted before the 2023 election, which is why he supported the removal of the running mate clause.
The running mate clause meant that a President and Vice President were elected together on the same ticket, making it impossible for the President to simply dismiss the Vice President. Similar systems have worked elsewhere in the region. Malawi is a good example. When President Bingu wa Mutharika died in office, constitutional provisions ensured that Vice President Joyce Banda succeeded him despite attempts to sideline her politically.
Allowing the removal of the running mate clause was Chiwenga’s first major mistake. As a result, he now serves as Vice President entirely at the pleasure of Emmerson Mnangagwa. He is appointed, not elected. That means he can also be removed.
If Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3 becomes law, it will further consolidate Mnangagwa’s control over the succession process. In practical terms, Chiwenga could be dismissed and replaced by another Vice President, something that would have been far more difficult under the running mate system.
That is why this Bill is not really about Chiwenga biding his time and waiting for his turn. It is about eliminating him as a serious constitutional contender for the presidency. Once the Bill becomes law, Mnangagwa will have even greater room to reshape the political landscape in his favour.
He could remove Chiwenga and appoint someone else, and that possibility is precisely why the battle over Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3 has become so significant for Chiwenga and his allies.
It’s simple @CyrilRamaphosa tell your friends from Zanu PF to stop messing up Zimbabwe. Tell your friends from FRELIMO to stop messing up Mozambique. The next time you go to the @edmnangagwa crime farm tell him straight that South Africa has had enough.
In 2017, he failed to grab the goodwill that he had across the political divide to build the country. In 2026, he has become a burden to the class that got him into office. He has become a national security threat. ED must fall!
On CAB 3
I am a representative of the people of Kadoma. I was elected to represent them, not to surrender their sovereignty.
In our community conversations, - at after church meetings, during interactions at funerals and weddings, in engagements with parents at school functions, In the streets, and even at our local gym - the message from the citizens is clear:
“Mwanangu, panyaya yeBumbiro, tambai nezvimwe; chitupa hachiwachigwi!”
For these reasons and many other, and in fidelity to the people of Kadoma and the Constitution of Zimbabwe, I CANNOT support this Bill.
Saka nhasi kutogwa naro chaizvo…
Look, I don’t want you to waste my time debating you when you act like you don’t understand the merits of the argument (kunyepera kudzungaira). No one said constitutions must not be amended. You know that’s not my argument, so why try to confine us to something I am not debating?
We are saying that there are rules to changing a constitution. And when MPs fail to follow the rules on how to amend the constitution because they seek to benefit those who are giving them undue benefits and exerting undue influence on them; that is fraud, corruption and treason to the people who gave them their delegated authority.
When that happens, a crime has been committed and we as citizens must act. All this irrationality of trying to make it sound like changing the constitution becomes a license not to follow the rules on how a constitution must be changed, and that by us asking for parliamentarians to uphold the rules, we are thus advocating for NOT changing the constitution, is childish and intentional obfuscation and I don’t have time for that.
Sixty seven ((67) Members of the Zimbabwe 10th Parliament have been taken to the constitutional court by their constituents for participating in processes to amend the constitution and extend their stay in office beyond the constitutional term limit ending in 2028.
The extension of the current parliamentarians term of office is in violation of section 328 (7) of the Zimbabwean constitution.
The applicants argue that they were not consulted when the decision to extend the MPs' term was done and that the bill which seeks to extend the terms is not being taken to the people for a referendum.
The parliamentary consultations did not occur in each one of the 210 constituencies in the country. Instead, there were 64 meetings throughout the whole country, one meeting in each of the 64 administrative districts in the country. Some districts have more than 5 constituencies.
While the court applications do not bar the MPs from participating in the ongoing reading of the bill in parliament and subsequent voting for the bill to become law, principles of good governance, constitutionalism and rule of law require that the cited 67 MPs should recuse themselves from any processes to do with the bill until the constitutional court makes its ruling on the applications. @Sophie_Mokoena@SABCNews@peterndoro@eNCA@Newzroom405
#Breaking: Retired Zimbabwean military generals and former senior civil servants have accused ED of using Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3 (CAB3) to serve narrow political interests, claiming meetings with him failed to address their concerns.
This is an election in Zambia. The candidate for Mwembezhi West constituency is Bernard Munangagwa! He comes from Mumbwa village, under Chief Munangagwa!
If l were Zambian, l would not vote for this one!

You might need to respect Linda. If she was truly your friend, don’t use her to fight your other battles. It serves no one, it achieves nothing & if she is abused by some uncouth ones under this tweet, you probably enabled it.
At times I close the door and cry, I ask myself if, I chose the wrong profession, would I not have been better as a teacher. Journalism has come with a heavy cost on my life, a burden that drains me, suffers my family and made me lonely. Yet I find myself unable to stop.
