Enugu State is honored to host the 2026 Retreat of the FAAC Postmortem Sub-Committee at the International Conference Center, Enugu.
On behalf of His Excellency, Governor Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, I had the distinct honor of delivering the opening remarks and welcoming the Honourable Minister of State for Finance, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, CFA, alongside distinguished fiscal leaders from across the Federation.
Under the theme "Assessing Fiscal and Sectoral Policies for Closing Revenue Leakage in the Federation Account," this retreat is a decisive step toward national economic stability. The focus is clear:
•Identify & Interrogate: Uncovering systemic and administrative loopholes that hinder revenue collection.
•Reform & Sustain: Proposing data-driven reforms to ensure long-term fiscal sustainability.
•Coordinate & Account: Strengthening the synergy between Federal and Sub-national entities to ensure every naira due to the Federation Account is transparently managed.

This recognition is connected to something very close to my heart, mentoring Accounting students from the University of Nigeria and the Accounting Department through their in house accounting and consultancy groups.

Over time, I have worked with them to provide guidance, career direction, and placement opportunities in organisations where they can gain real accounting experience beyond theory.

Last Friday, I traveled to Bayelsa to represent the Government and people of Enugu State on behalf of His Excellency, the Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, at the funeral of the Deputy Governor, His Excellency, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, Ph.D.

It was a solemn duty to offer our presence and support during such a difficult time. We stand in sincere solidarity with the government and people of Bayelsa, and our prayers for strength and comfort remain with the bereaved family as they honor his life and legacy.

Transparency is not just a policy for this administration; it is a promise to our people. Today, I was honored to represent the State Government as we received ₦1.27 Billion in recovered funds from the EFCC, following successful recovery efforts involving the Sujimoto Group.

I extend my sincere thanks to the Executive Chairman of the EFCC and his team for their diligent and professional work.
