Urgent Humanitarian Statement
Hope and Haven Refugees Organization and Darfur Victims Support Organization express their deep sorrow and concern over the tragic fire that broke out in Tawila locality, North Darfur State – El Fasher, specifically in Daly neighborhood (west), north of Al-Zahraa School and Al-Zahraa Health Center, on 17 December 2025.
According to eyewitness accounts received by both organizations from within Tawila locality, the fire resulted in the complete destruction of approximately 130 homes, in addition to severe losses of property, further worsening the suffering of affected families who are already living under extremely difficult humanitarian conditions.
In light of this painful humanitarian situation, the two organizations issue an urgent humanitarian appeal to all local, regional, and international humanitarian organizations to intervene immediately and provide emergency assistance to those affected. This includes shelter, food assistance, essential non-food items, and urgent health interventions.
Swift solidarity and immediate response are critically needed to alleviate the suffering of the affected families and protect lives, amid the escalating humanitarian challenges facing the area.

🌿 Community Awareness for Protection & Healing 🌿
On 15 December 2025, Hope and Haven for Refugees conducted an awareness-raising session on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Psychosocial Support (PSS) in Adré Camp, reaching participants from three camp sectors.
This session focused on:
🔹 Understanding what constitutes GBV
🔹 Breaking stigma and encouraging survivors to seek help
🔹 Promoting a culture of zero tolerance toward violence
🔹 Building community capacity for prevention, response, and psychosocial first aid
🔹 Engaging women, girls, community leaders, and youth in open dialogue
Despite challenges such as stigma and harmful traditional practices, the discussions highlighted the urgent need for continuous awareness, especially among decision-makers, religious leaders, and community influencers.
💬 Awareness saves lives.
💚 Community support restores dignity.
Together, we continue working to protect women and girls and strengthen community-based responses.

🟢 Sudanese Refugees in Chad – Daily Meals Update
Since the escalation of violence in Darfur and El Fasher, thousands of families—mostly women and children—have crossed into eastern Chad seeking safety. Many walked for days with no food, no water, carrying only their children and pain.
In camps such as Adré, Dabba Nayra, Al-Malik and others, life is still extremely difficult:
• Shelter is not enough
• Food is limited
• Healthcare is scarce
• Trauma is heavy
Yet, there is resilience. Communities support each other. Youth volunteer. Women organize cooking groups. Hope is being rebuilt — slowly, with love.
At our Children’s Meals Center in Adré, we provide daily warm meals and a moment of safety.
Last week, we served 1,600 children.
This is more than food.
Food is dignity. Food is protection. Food is hope.
To everyone supporting, sharing, and standing with us —
Thank you. Your humanity reaches farther than you know. 🤍
