How about we stop calling it web3 gaming and just call it what it is meant to be: "gaming".
Maybe that shift alone would push builders to design for the actual gaming industry, not just "what should work and attract web3 gaming users.โ which always result in a complex/boring product with too much financial incentives.
Funny .. for game devs, the funnel is the same everywhere: acquisition โ activation โ retention.
Right now, the real issue isnโt with the activation or retention, itโs more of an acquisition problem. Like really getting real players from the actual gaming market, instead of competing inside of a shaky web3gaming bubble mostly driven by airdrop hunters ..
Ironically, itโs worse than 2021. Back then, acquisition was easy, because of hype, but activation wasn't, since most games simply werenโt good enough ...
Sometimes I think perhaps we brought the wrong audience back then, like would you imagine the pandemic thing that year pushed the wrong audience here?
