I met hostage survivor Moran Stella Yanai. And she wants this story to be told and shared...
She was taken by 13 ТERRORISТS from the Nova Festival. She endured 54 days of torture and captivity.
"How did you get through every second, every minute, every day?"
"Faith and purpose," she said.
"I spent my time getting through moments."
Moran gave herself purpose. She made it her mission to look out for the two women in captivity with her. Most of the "fire" in the room was directed at her. She'd have a gun held to her head one moment. Play cards with the captor the next.
She made it her mission to gather information from Hаmаs. Everything she did in captivity was strategic. Moran made it her mission to keep her mind, her spirit, her imagination.
From time to time, she'd hear a blip on Israeli radio. She found signs and symbols in those seconds.
She lost 50% of her hearing. Came back covered in lice, sores, and filled with infections. Broken bones.
"The physical problems are nothing. It's all mental."
She says she lives with a feeling that it's possible to be taken hostage again. Because it happened before.
But the thing Moran said most is, "I won."
She did. And she continues to win every day.
"I'm a better person now."
And that question I asked Moran at the start? That's the same question I ask every Holocaust survivor. I didn't tell her that. But within the first sentence of answering, she used the word Holocaust in referring to her experience.
I've hugged many Holocaust survivors. It always gives me such an indescribable feeling of comfort and resilience. And when I hugged Moran goodbye, I got that same feeling again.🎗️
Bridget, telling lies is a breach of the Ministerial Code.
It's well known from your time as Education Secretary (before your demotion!) that you struggle with the truth.
As the then junior minister responsible for financial services regulation, I was not even remotely a 'co-author' of the mini budget. I did not see it until the night before.
I’m flattered that my decades of real-world business experience outside Westminster trigger so many Labour MPs. It’ll be useful when the next Conservative government has to clean up your mess!
(P.S. Mortgage rates are higher now than in 2022…)

“I don’t care if he’s the Chair of the Defence Select Committee”
A churlish and ill-tempered outing from Wes Streeting at the Despatch Box as he undermines Tan Dhesi and the Labour-chaired Defence Select Committee that holds the Defence Secretary to account.
This is entirely the wrong tone to adopt.
EXCLUSIVE: Labour advisers at the Home Office broke the law by meeting candidates for a senior Civil Service job, the appointments watchdog has found.
A letter uncovered by this Substack reveals that Baroness Stuart ruled their involvement a “Fundamental Breach” - the watchdog’s most serious category - and ordered a targeted audit.
The rules exist to stop political advisers filling the permanent Civil Service with political allies.
Yet the government refuses to say how many meetings took place or whether the recruitment process was suspended or cancelled.

"Taxing the engines of growth to reduce VAT on gherkins is end-of-Rome level of stupidity"

Today, the late Her Majesty the Queen's Colours were laid up in a ceremony held in Portsmouth. Her Royal Highness the Princess Royal attended the service along with 150 Royal Navy sailors and dignitaries.

Very honoured to be part of todays Laying-Up of The Queen’s Colour of the @RoyalNavy, with HRH The Princess Royal at the “cathedral of the sea” in Portsmouth. As well as being the Monarch, HMQ Elizabeth II was the daughter, wife and mother of sailors. In a rare and moving service we retired this visible symbol of loyalty, duty and service to the Crown. It will be honoured until its last thread is gone.
Brilliant stuff from Tony Sewell in the @thetimes today. He’s absolutely right to say the people pushing reparations are political elites in these countries who want to blame Britain than fix problems in their own countries, with our useful-idiot activists over here egging them on.
If you haven’t read it, or don’t have a sub buy a copy. An essential read 👇
In 1952, an English teacher named Cecil Dormand secretly paid for a dirt-poor 11-year-old to take a drama course.
He never told him and the boy didn’t find out until decades later.
By then, he was a knight, that little boy’s name was Patrick Stewart.
He was born into a poor family in Mirfield, a small mill town in Yorkshire and his father came home from World War II a violent man, and he was violent toward Patrick’s mother.
Young Patrick learned exactly when to step between his father’s fist and his mother.
An English teacher put a copy of Shakespeare in his hand and told him to get up and perform.
He never stopped and left school at 15.
By 19 he was completely bald... most agencies told him he'd never make it because of that.
In 1987, the LA Times called him an “unknown British Shakespearean actor” when he was cast as Captain Picard.
Then he became one of the most famous faces on Earth.
You’ve probably heard that part.
Here’s the part you haven’t:
He spent decades as a patron of Refuge, sheltering women and children from domestic violence.
But he never stopped trying to understand his father.
He dug up a 1940 newspaper clipping that said his dad had come home with severe shell shock.
He went to France and walked the ground where his father’s unit was pinned down under bombing for hours.
He learned his father had PTSD, and nobody ever helped him.
So Patrick became an ambassador for Combat Stress, a charity that helps veterans.
In 2013, a young woman at a Texas convention told him she was a survivor of domestic violence.
He asked, “My dear, are you okay?”
Then he hopped off the stage, held her, and told her: “You never have to go through that again, you’re safe now.”
At Dragon Con, a Make-A-Wish girl dressed as Spock came to meet him.
2,000 people were waiting for him to speak... he sat down and talked with her for 15 minutes, making all of them wait.
He told her that since they were friends now, whenever she saw him on screen she could wave and say, “Hello Patrick.”
After 9/11, he felt helpless, so he brought his one-man A Christmas Carol back to Broadway for a full week of charity shows.
He played every character himself and donated every cent.
In 2019 he did it again, and every dollar went to feeding hungry New Yorkers.
In 2017, he fostered a pit bull named Ginger, who had been rescued from a dogfighting ring.
She was his first dog in more than 50 years.
He couldn’t bring her home to England, so he found her a family.
Then he kept fostering more.
When he said he was done with Star Trek so many people told him the show had gotten them through the hardest times of their lives.
So he wanted to see if Picard could do it one more time.
Rest in Peace, Sir Patrick 🖖
Angela Rayner is to appoint an “Islamophobia” adviser.
They'll enforce her “Islamophobia” definition, which Labour allowed extremists to influence.
Ministers claimed the evidence was deleted, but I proved this was a lie.
It's still kept secret. Rayner must end the cover up.
Jimmy Carr dealing with hecklers and questions from the audience is a fine watch.👏
His spontaneous interactions are often better than his written stuff imo.🫡
The absolute simple f*cking accuracy of this
What has happened to @TRobinsonNewEra could happen to anyone who speaks up with how the future of the UK looks.
