Recently I had a great experience speaking with Tom Vieira (@neodaoist), head of product @Base at @MoonwellDeFi's lead investor, @Arrington Capital's founders retreat.

Here's some of the alpha we shared with founders representing some of the biggest projects and rising stars in the space:
In just the last 6 months, it has become dramatically easier for non-technical people to come onchain. With the advent of passkey wallets like @CoinbaseWallet, users can now begin using apps on Base without downloading any apps, backing up their private key, or even having to acquire Ether to pay for fees.
For the first time, your family and friends can probably use an app like @MoonwellDeFi without asking you for help, and do this on a mobile device without owning a computer.
The @Base product team and @CoinbaseDev are bringing powerful tools to app developers such as Base node (a free production-ready RPC service), and Paymasters, a new feature that lets apps sponsor gas for their users. App builders can find a lot of info at https://t.co/wBXlqEzEmx, including info on the Base Gasless campaign, which can provide up to ~$16K of gas sponsorship on Base for apps that fill out a simple Google form and integrate the smart wallet.
We also discussed the dramatic increase in stablecoin volume on Base in recent months. Please follow @peterschroederr at @Circle, but I did want to share some impressive stats:
- USDC has just passed $120B in transaction volume on @Base in a single week
- USDC just did over $20B in volume on Base in a single day
- USDC did over $250B in volume in September, and will likely far surpass this in October.

Last, we discussed the opportunities that exist for Base ecosystem project as payment processors like @Stripe, @Stablecoin, and others would prefer to hold USDC and EURC in yield bearing assets onchain (such as money markets like @MoonwellDeFi and @MorphoLabs) while waiting for settlement vs. simply holding USDC in a wallet.

The future is very bright for projects building on Base, and Tom, @jessepollak, and many others on the Base and Wallet teams are working hard to bring powerful tools to developers so they can rapidly onboard 1 million builders.
