A textbook study in populist opportunism and ideological flip flopping. In Burkina Faso 🇧🇫, Jacob Zuma claims his greatest wish is to dismantle colonial borders and unite African people fooling Ibrahim Traore.
Back home 🇿🇦, his party officially endorses xenophobic vigilantes who enforce those exact colonial borders through street violence, assaults, and forced store closures. To top it off, Zuma himself stokes the fire in isiZulu scapegoating informal traders. His followers, who love to scream "flip-flopper" at opponents are completely silent because the hypocrisy suits their agenda.

In 2008, South Africa experienced its worst xenophobic riots, long before the EFF existed. At the time, Julius Malema had just been newly elected as President of the ANC Youth League and couldn’t have imagined a future outside the ANC. He even went on to contest a 2nd term in 2011.
This shows the migration pressures in South Africa is not new, it existed long before the EFF was formed.
When unrest broke out in 2008, people took matters into their own hands. Lives were lost. Thousands were displaced. And still, the problem was not solved.
So what does this mean?
1. The EFF did not create the current migration challenges; they existed long before its formation.
2. South Africans have already tried vigilantism and xenophobia and paid for it with their lives.
Xenophobia is not, and has never been, a solution to undocumented immigration.

With the Easter Weekend on the horizon, eThekwini Municipality Deputy Mayor, Councillor Zandile Myeni, met Deputy Minister of Transport, Mr Mkhuleko Hlengwa, to discuss collaborative efforts to curb carnage on the roads during this busy period. Metro Police, Road Traffic Inspectorate (RTI) and South African Police Service (SAPS) will be out in full force to ensure people adhere to traffic rules, speed limits, and road safety regulations.
There is absolutely nothing in the world that you can do to get rid of the EFF. It is a generational mission, and in the words of the Victor Hugo, it is an idea whose time has come! It cannot be stopped❤️.
The EFF motion to scrap 100% municipal debt for indigent households was passed yesterday in the City of Tshwane. But as usual, when it comes to EFF victories, South African media goes on leave…

It is not for the boys or me, but for an African child faced with difficulties, yet hopeful and determined to rise above hardship and despondency. They tried before and I'm still standing and humble in victory. Ke tšhipi ya bo kgalaka.✊🏿
