Watching the Trump fervor reminds me of when I was obsessed with Barack Obama and believed he was going to “change” America. It didn’t matter what evidence people showed me that proved he was in bed with powerful interests or supported war and corporate oligarchy. I was so hopped up on the high hope of believing I had power through him that my brain literally couldn’t process that information.

I’ll be pleased if Trump follows through on any of the grandiose promises he’s made about peace (which he didn’t achieve as he kept bombing at record levels through much of his admin) and “the swamp” (which he didn’t drain but rather filled to the brim), but I’m expecting a lot of people to be vomiting out excuses for him even if/when reality contradicts the delusion.

Wrong. I’m not “misleading” anybody by saying we’re not a democracy. We’re not. We are a constitutional federal republic of 50 states. What’s misleading, and frankly disingenuous by design, is calling America “our democracy”. Because of this repetition, along with the failed federal education system, voters assume the electoral college is a bug, not a feature, and they want to abolish it.

When Benjamin Franklin came out of the constitutional convention on September 17, 1787, he was asked by Elizabeth Willing Powel, “Well, Doctor, what have we have, a republic or a monarchy?”. Franklin responded, “A republic, if you can keep it”. He did not say “we are a democracy”. That would imply majority rule, which the founding fathers had an aversion to, so no we don’t have that. Benjamin Franklin misled nobody, just as I mislead nobody.

Let’s look at the electoral vote versus the popular vote. It doesn’t matter how many people vote for a certain party. The popular vote is meaningless here— but it’s Democratic. “One person one vote”, right? What matters is which state they live in, and how many electors each state has. 50% of the country lives in 5% of it, If we had a direct democracy, the fate of our entire country would fall to a handful of coastal cities.

The goal of the media and the government incessantly repeating “our democracy”, is to propagandize low ordered thinkers, and eventually wind up as a democracy without a Republic— like in the UK— parts of which we already divorced.

How’s that one party state working out in the UK? Do we like mass surveillance, warrantless searches, no free speech and gun bans? Would we like every state’s justice system to be captured like theirs? Thank God the electoral college and the 10th amendment are preventing us from collapsing into the ills of
🌈democracy🦄.

However, we’re well on our way to being just like that again with the invasion of our country. Why do you think they are flying criminal aliens into blue state strongholds the swing states? The census is how they determine electors. The goal of circumventing the electoral college by jamming it full of people brought here for the bloated government, and entitlements, who do not share our values, is to wind up with a one-party state. This is what Benjamin Franklin meant by “We are Republic *if we can keep it*”. There are bad actors and a multibillion dollar human trafficking machine hell-bent on seeing that we don’t.

And just because your country votes, it does not mean you are a democracy. That is not a trump card. North Korea has mandatory voting and a 100% turnout rate. Would you call them a democracy?

"Nomads on horses" is what comes to mind of many upon hearing the word "Mongolia". Indeed, nomadic culture is engrained into every part of Mongolian lifestyle and culture. Mongolians have been nomads for thousands of years, sustaining their life on Central Asian plateau by relying on their domesticated livestock. The main five domesticated livestocks are: horse, camel, sheep, goat and cow, although yaks are kept in some areas of Northern Mongolia. From early on, due to shortage of food and everything else in general, frugality and resourcefulness were greatly valued and emphasized in nomadic life; everything had multiple Uses, and same goes for all the livestock.

Livestocks are used for not only food. but also for transportation and a resource for raw materials such as wool, cashmere, and leather. These raw materials are in return used to make clothes, shoes, and most importantly, the Gers (yurts). In short, before the technological boom and era of plenty, nomadic lifestyle was completely self sustaining. In the mountainous northern part of the country, usually sheep, goat and horses are kept in addition to yaks while in the southern part, especially in the Gobi desert, camels are mostly kept as they are capable of going on without water for many days. Typically, a household keeps enough livestock to sustain the whole family, therefore fertile pastureland is critical for the nomads, hence the seasonal migration to find better pastureland during each season.

Today. about 30% of the country's population is still leading nomadic lifestyle all over the country, and as there are not many truly nomadic cultures left on earth, Mongolia has become an unique destination to visit for many tourists. Subsequently, in the last two decades, Mongolian government has been working hard to encourage tourism with main attraction being nomadic lifestyle.

When traveling to Mongolia, one can experience nomadic culture in many ways. Most of the Mongolian tours offer a short visit or two to real families in the countryside which gives a good chance to learn and witness their hospitality. However, if one is up for in depth and authentic experience, then staying with a family for several days, engaging in their daily chores, eating and sleeping like the nomads, is the best way to do it.
