Year 2 had a very special visitor on our last day today! We welcomed a very new member of Chameleon Class when Mrs Ricci brought the adorable baby Emma to meet us. She is just one week old! @meerkatsclass1

The Year 2 Wildlife Gardens are really taking shape and are in use! They really are an adventure playground for our wild friends with places to shelter, explore, snack and even bathe! The children have really enjoyed their weekly sessions creating these! @meerkatsclass1

Year 2 have been comparing durations of time today, using our knowledge of the greater than and less than symbols as well as the number of minutes in different fractions of an hour. @meerkatsclass1

This afternoon, Year 2 experienced what it would have been like as part of the fire chain, trying to put out the Great Fire of London. They decided it was very hard work and not very effective because it would have taken a long time with a lot of water spilled! @meerkatsclass1

We have begun to learn about telling the time in 5 minute intervals this week. I know lots of you have practised o'clock, half past and quarter past/to. Please now practise the five minute interval times past and to in any spare moment!

Our wildlife habitat is beginning to take shape! The children have worked hard with Ms Sprake to create bee baths, butterfly feeders, bug hotels and twig tower blocks, as well as generously donating some plants.

We have been busy investigating germination in Science this week. Each group planted two seeds, thinking about keeping a fair test by only changing one variable. We are excited to see which germinate first next week. @meerkatsclass1

We've had a busy outdoor morning in Year 2, describing movement and turns to work our way round mazes. In English, we generated ideas for what might have been on the island in the Tempest, and guided our partners round, describing what we saw. @meerkatsclass1

Please keep practising spelling the common exception words with your child. We sent them home after the Easter holidays with the words highlighted (in pink for Chameleons) that your child needed to practise and are looking forward to seeing their progress!

How many different lengths can you make by cutting up one metre? Year 2 investigated this then investigated the strips they had made, identifying who had the shortest and longest strips and posing their own questions to explore. @meerkatsclass1

We are excited to announce a ‘Break the rules’ day. On Thursday 1st April Mrs Herrero is allowing a few rules to be broken for a donation of 50p per rule or break them all for £2! School uniform should still be worn. @WillowsCE
