@Gary15527357 Style of play would definitely be suited to playing against teams in the Prem, really like the identity that's been created at Hull. It is a massive jump so you'd need some very smart additions but I genuinely believe in the front 3 (you would probably need to keep Gelhardt too).
Hull City:
Brilliant performance to make the play-off final. Their xG difference has been negative almost all season, showing the limitations of using 1/2 metrics to evaluate performance.
Hull have benefitted from a suitable style of play and quality in forwards areas.
1/12
To conclude; style of play, star quality and depth of forward options have contributed to Hull's success this season, despite consistently having a negative xG difference.
They have difference makers, supported with quality and depth in a stable system that suits their skillsets.
Millwall also struggled to hold their nerve, they had some uncharacteristic mistakes from key players that harmed their momentum.
Azeez was bright early on but drifted into one of his inconsistent performances - they needed him to have at least one good game out of the two.
Championship Minutes Distribution:
- Coventry benefitted from having one of the most settled line-ups in the league. This was especially true of their back four, GK and Grimes (6 and leader). This strong foundation gave them a platform to perform consistently.
Non-Penalty Goals (60th-90th Percentile):
- Azaz, Mason-Clarke and Twine are all towards the 90th percentile in xG and Non-Penalty Goals.
- Emil Riis, Kjerrumgaard and Kone all had solid goalscoring seasons with 9 each and an xG that is consistent with that rate of goals.
Non-Penalty Goals:
-Vipotnik finished topscorer, he consistently outscored his xG. He played more than Makama, Thomas-Asante, Bamford and Wright - all had similar scoring rates.
-Larin and Stewart pushed Saints to the playoffs and Simms added depth for Coventry (small samples).
Chance Creation:
-Femi Azeez ends the season with the highest xA per 90. He is in the 90th percentile of both metrics, showing quality and volume in chance creation.
-Roberts, Azaz and Hackney also in leading group of both metrics.
-Jack Clarke created the most chances per 90.
@fm_researcher I had at least 15 90s for the main graph, here it is below with 10 90s minimum:
Josh Murphy would be a leader in xA and not far off the 90th percentile in Chances Created, with usual caveats about sample size.
