This publication adds to a growing corpus of literature on #Tibetan female monasticism. My ethnography’s perspective from the inside allows me to be both proximate and critical of the #nun’s monastic realities and the changes they have been undergoing.
Insane: according to Rubio the "imminent threat" that Iran posed - that justified "preemptive war" - was that the U.S. knew Israel would attack them, and they expected Iran would respond. https://t.co/F6tM6X668B
It's literally the equivalent of saying "I knew that guy was a threat because I knew he'd shoot back after getting shot by my friend."
Rubio calls striking Iran in that context "going proactively in a defensive way", which has got to be one of the most Orwellian sentences ever uttered by a Secretary of State.
Any normal can see that what this actually means was that those under "imminent threat" were actually Iran. Rubio just admitted very clearly that Iran was the victim here.
“The sweeping law marks the latest effort in a 'Sinicisation' campaign… to force the country’s dozens of ethnic minorities to assimilate into Han-dominated society in the name of promoting inter-ethnic harmony.”
Cruel and unnecessary!
Iran’s regime is illiberal and brutal, and the Iranian people deserve the freedom they have long fought for. This gives no right to the US or Israel -whose own policies in Palestine are also illiberal and brutal- to bomb Iran, nor to EU leaders to cloak escalation in hypocrisy.
In November, a small cohort of us will convene to examine a pivotal theme at the intersection of Tibetan Buddhist studies and Women’s Studies. This gathering aims to have rigorous, interdisciplinary dialogue on issues of significance to both fields.

The Germans we love.
It does not matter how long it took you to fill those streets and squares, standing against genocide.
What matters now is that you are there, remain steadfast and keep growing. Your country is fully involved in Israel's crimes. ONLY YOU CAN STOP THIS.
Did anyone tell you sir that “ targeted strikes against nuclear facilities” are prohibited under article 56 of the additional protocol to the Geneva Conventions to which Germany is a party, and that the use of force in international relations is generally prohibited in article 2(4) of the @UN Charter with the exception of the right of self defense in the case of armed attack or upon authorization by the Security Council in the case of collective security action.
You might want to familiarize yourself with the basic tenets of international law…

It never ends. Israel is determined to kill, kill, kill. Meanwhile, Israel lies, lies, lies. And the West? The West looks elsewhere, anywhere, everywhere but at the scene of the war crime of the century https://t.co/0lM5tiTMGW
Opinion from the FT's Editorial Board: 'The US and European countries that tout Israel as an ally that shares their values have issued barely a word of condemnation. They should be ashamed of their silence, and stop enabling Netanyahu to act with impunity.' https://t.co/fbf9aojkcg
He left us with a message of peace. May we take heed.
Perhaps nothing captures Pope Francis's essence more beautifully than this: throughout the Gaza war, until his final breath, even from his hospital bed, he reached out daily to the small Holy Family Parish in Gaza. Just to listen, gives his blessings, and reassure the frightened parishioners throughout their nightmarish ordeal. The children there knew him simply as “the grandfather.”
In my lifetime, no Pope has more profoundly embodied the true principles of the Catholic religion: standing with and for the poor, the oppressed and the powerless.
An all-too-rare principled figure who will be immensely missed.
