A sitting Karnataka minister, Zameer Ahmed, is seeking exemption from hoisting the National Flag on Independence Day because he claims he has no time, he is busy with elections and “party organisational work.”

Think about that.

A Minister of the state government does not have time to attend the Independence Day ceremony and hoist the Tricolour, but apparently has time for electoral and party responsibilities.

The National Flag is not a party flag. Independence Day is not a political event. The privilege of hoisting the Tricolour is an honour and a constitutional responsibility that should transcend party politics.

What does this say about the priorities of the Congress government in Karnataka and Zameer Ahmed?

The Tricolour can wait, but elections cannot?
