Some interesting mango observations.
Some Oblong shape large mango got brown fibers quite obviously this year.
Some guess from mango lady and me.
Stress induced or fast-growing during fruit enlargement period. The close-vascular bundle tissues were broken and therefore browning.
@UFPostharvest And interestingly different taste. It’s more like the combination of Asian pear and pear. The fully ripe Indian jujube has a very unique aroma ( which I really don’t like, foxy flavor? 🤪) this fruit is harvest in a very specific window between mature green to turning half yellow
Another surprising gift from the farmer, the champion of this year in Tainan City! (Previous picture is Yunlin City).
Yellowish Green, big butt, soft exocarp.
Slightly defects are acceptable. The oil glands on the skin are smaller. In a delicate box as gifts. Gorgeous!
What the champion fruit looks like. Taiwaneses prefer greenish-yellow color and slightly soft peel suggesting the work of 5-7 d room temp “curing” was done.
Flavor, aroma, taste, same size, free of defects and degreen level were used to judge the fruit.
I sort of had a pumelo essential oil spa today😂. And my tongue was fatigued quite soon. However, it’s somehow easier for me to pick up some outstanding samples, and I could easily tell delicious and plain samples. 😂😂
