I never met him, but I'm still shook from this. I've been on his site for almost all of its existence. Almost 20 years now.

The hospital had refused to negotiate the bill or apply charity because even though they have a lot of leeway in that regard, they refused to deal with someone who owed taxes despite having other bank statements available.

The Medicaid bit is particularly rough.

Even if they qualified, the system makes you go through so many hoops and fails to explain so many things that half the time it takes going into an office in person just to get them to do their job right.
