@justsamgaming@duplakappa@finalfantasyvii ...are showcasing those niche titles while Sony really isn't. And where most JRPGs would have once upon a time been exclusive to the PlayStation brand, that is clearly not the case anymore. Nintendo has sniped many of the same titles and became the place to put those niche JRPGs.
@justsamgaming@duplakappa@finalfantasyvii ...market. outside of a handful of exclusive AAA JRPG titles, Sony isn't pushing the genre like they used to. Many of the niche titles that Sony has are also available on the Switch. And the Switch also has its own AAA exclusives as well. The differences is, Nintendo...
@justsamgaming@duplakappa@finalfantasyvii And my argument is simple. You think that there are way more JRPGa on PlayStation because you just don't know any better. I think you follow only AAA games and act like your a JRPG fan. I'll say it again, I've probably beaten more JRPGs than you've even played.
@justsamgaming@duplakappa@finalfantasyvii ...market in Switch for these traditional titles. Have you ever gone to Play Asia and just scroll through the JRPG selection of Switch games?
@justsamgaming@duplakappa@finalfantasyvii ...Switch and on the PS consoles are seeing physical releases on Switch and not on the PS4 or PS5, like the Remasters of Final Fantasy 7-9, SaGa Frontier, and Chrono Cross. The NIS classics collection is exclusive to Switch and is also on physical. There is a bigger...
@justsamgaming@duplakappa@finalfantasyvii ... priorities are. It's on tentpole, big budget AAA tiles like God of War, Horizon, and Final Fantasy. Smaller JRPGs don't get the attention that they used to on Sony's consoles. But you're so hung up on the BIG SHINY AAA tiles that you're failing to see the shift happening.
@justsamgaming@duplakappa@finalfantasyvii The only reason why Octopath Traveler II is making it to the PlayStation consoles is because the original title sold gangbusters in the Switch. That made Sony take notice. The general lack of JRPGs on the PS5 compared to previous PS consoles should tell you where Sony's...
@justsamgaming@duplakappa@finalfantasyvii ...put small JRPG titles on since Nintendo will actually dedicate time to showcase it. Why do you think Sony didn't get smaller Square tiles like Octopath Traveler and Triangle Strategy? Because Nintendo is more supportive of those smaller, traditional JRPG experiences.
@justsamgaming@duplakappa@finalfantasyvii ... placing the same kind of emphasis on the genre that Nintendo is. That's the simple truth. Nintendo has actually spent legitimate time showcasing the JRPG games on the switch, even predominantly featuring them.on their directs.
@justsamgaming@duplakappa@finalfantasyvii Twice as many? You're naive. Not even close. Name every one of them. Show me twice as many. Not to mention you've been utterly missing the point since the beginning of this conversation. People think of the Switch this generation as the JRPG console because Sony is NOT...
@justsamgaming@duplakappa@finalfantasyvii ... offerings, but I honestly wouldn't feel deprived of JRPG experiences if all I had was a Switch. And if you don't think Sony is moving away from pushing the genre, outside of some of the larger titles, ask yourself how many JRPGs have actually come out for the PS5 so far.
@justsamgaming@duplakappa@finalfantasyvii ...this privilege to. My point is that you're entire argument seems to favor triple A releases, completely dismissing the fact that the genre consists of more than just Final Fantasy, Tales, and Persona, all series that actually do have a strong presence on the Switch.
