It happened again. Thai forces abducted 20 Cambodian soldiers, one escaped, two are feared dead, immediately after the ceasefire, during what was supposed to be a goodwill handshake at Chom Tae.

As of July 30, they remain in detention, a blatant betrayal that undermines trust and casts doubt on Thailand’s commitment to peace.

Thailand’s actions constitute a breach of the Kuala Lumpur ceasefire agreement and are in violation of international law, specifically the 1949 Geneva Conventions concerning the treatment of prisoners of war (POWs). Cambodia must gather evidence in order to condemn Thailand for committing war crimes.
