They blocked the lifeline of nearly 2.5 million people for three years, and the blockade continues even today.
Yet, after facing a blockade for just one week, they portray themselves as the real victims and demand their rights, while having deprived millions of the very same rights for the past three years.
Isn’t that a striking contradiction?
This Kuki Inpi guy is protesting under the shadow of COTU. If COTU failed he will come out with another drama with a different name of Letterheads.

Listen carefully to the words of Aaron Kipgen, spokesperson of UPF, a Kuki SoO group, to understand why Manipur remains trapped in a perpetual cycle of violence.
For the Kukis, these series of conflicts with every community is a means to an end : political separation.

The incident occurred between Litan and TM Kasom villages when civilian passengers traveling along the route were ambushed.

The only civil society in the entire world that openly supports and upholds the internationally denounced draconian Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) 1958 is none other than the Kuki CSOs in India. An Act which empowers even a non-commissioned officer to shoot and kill on mere suspicion has been universally criticised as inhumane and undemocratic.
Under the shadow of this law, in the so-called “largest democracy” called India, thousands have been killed, tortured, and disappeared. The Supreme Court of India itself admitted to the scale of atrocities when 1,528 cases of arbitrary killings and fake encounters were filed. Shockingly, out of 32 random cases investigated, every single one was proven to be a fake encounter. Yet, no soldier or officer has ever been prosecuted, because AFSPA itself grants total impunity for murder, torture, and every form of human rights violation.
And yet the very same Kuki CSOs, who scream of persecution when it suits them, shamelessly justify this barbaric law when it is applied to others. Groups like the Committee on Tribal Unity (COTU) and the so-called @KOHUR__ Kuki Organisation for Human Rights (KOHUR)’s silences expose their own duplicity by endorsing the use of AFSPA as long as their own community is not affected. What credibility do such organisations have to call themselves “human rights defenders” when they openly endorse a law that the UN, Amnesty International, and countless rights bodies have condemned for decades?
This is not just hypocrisy, it is complicity with crimes against humanity. International bodies must take serious note of these groups masquerading as “HR organisations” while legitimising one of the world’s most undemocratic and draconian laws. Their silence on torture, killings, and enforced disappearances under AFSPA and their selective outrage when convenient, betrays the very essence of human rights advocacy.
