Novel sejarah hanya pintu masuk. Ingat pintu masuk, bukan untuk memahami apa yang sebenarnya terjadi.

Ambil contoh banyak novel sejarah yang membahas peristiwa 1965, namun tidak menjelaskan mengapa peristiwa itu bisa terjadi. Bahkan beberapa novel sejarah melegitimasi pembantaian 1965 atau mendemonisasi pendukung PKI/terduga PKI.

Sastra juga film (yang sedang hangat di timeline) bisa menjadi alat legitimasi penguasa atas tindakan brutalnya.

Sekali lagi, baca juga non fiksi/sumber2 sejarah. Seperti buku di bawah.
