Like other specialty crops, growing seed corn has its challenges. Having fewer registered herbicides available sometimes means that when you miss your application window (eg. due to rain), that's it.

We do our best to leave the weed seeds behind before moving fields.

@farmerschneck The company keeps all the variety info pretty secret, so we only know the anonymous code name its given and nothing about the varieties. That said, looking at some seed tags on our commerical corn seed (P0529Q) this year it said it was grown in Canada (which means Chatham-Kent)!
