Today, Chief Hamlin swore in our newest member, K9 Atlas. Atlas and his handler will specialize in explosive ordnance detection and apprehension. “We ask these dogs to do things that we sometimes won’t even ask ourselves to do. It’s a different kind of heroism” said Chief Hamlin.
I was late to our walk this am as pops had an early meeting so he got up without me. I put on coffee and then hustled to catch up. I was warmly greeted.
Happy Canada Day to our friends in the north 🇨🇦
Sorry about the flag, it was a rough summer for weather on the lake that year.
I took this picture from the water looking up at the moose on the dock.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is mourning the loss of K9 Cyrus, a loyal service dog who spent five years faithfully serving his community. On June 14, after completing a shift with his handler, Cyrus unexpectedly experienced a sudden medical crisis that quickly turned serious.
Veterinary teams worked tirelessly to help him, first at a local emergency clinic and later at a specialized veterinary hospital in Las Vegas. Sadly, despite those efforts, Cyrus passed away while surrounded by the people who loved him most.
At just seven years old, Cyrus had already built an extraordinary legacy. He worked side by side with law enforcement officers, answered countless calls for service, and touched many lives throughout his career. His passing has left a painful void for his handler, family, fellow officers, and the larger K9 community that considered him one of their own.
Have a nice evening everyone.
I had @grok sharpen this image up for me, as you can probably tell. They did have perfectly in sync tongues also in the original though.
TPD Ronnie isn’t a great fan of the hose but he is one of the greediest dogs on the planet, so cooling him down with the hose went much more smoothly than I thought it would.
