Been a while since anyone’s experienced turbulence. If you’re missing it, come check out my Beta! A wild, and fluctuating project to say the least!

@tedmitew Thank you for introducing me to the digital world! While my time on campus was short, your classes are the most prominent memories of my uni experience. You really broke the high-school classroom paradigm for me. Best of luck in your travels and many thanks for the knowledge!
@kimliaa_ Actually I agree, in fact I think this movie is inaccurate by representing the Oasis as a place of full anonymity. The internet knows everything about us today, I don’t see data extraction stopping in the future it’s how they make money
“Cyberspace is created by transforming a data matrix into a landscape in which narratives can happen”. They literally live two lives because of VR. Social media is similar in this way #bcm325

When he reveals his real name I felt the safety of the VR world be threatened because suddenly, he’s a real person in real life with real consequences #bcm325
I love how this movie really makes a polarisation between the horribleness of reality and the glitter of the oasis world. Let’s the viewer know the capabilities of VR #bcm325
I love how there are no constraints of identity in the Oasis. Unlike reality, VR has the ability to express yourself freely. It can be an escape from your own self as well #bcm325
“Cyberspace. A consensual hallucination experienced by billions of legitimate operators” (Myers 2001). We consensually let hours slip from on our mobiles because we’re being immersed by cyberspace #BCM325
“These days, reality is a bummer. Everyone is looking for a way to escape”. I find myself today using my mobile as way to escape boredom, uncomfortable realities that I want to disengage from #BCM325
There’s a familiar theme in Alita and in blade runner where they create an excellent contrast with acts of humanity by a robot or cyborg character. Instead of fearing the advances of technology, we fear humans instead. Will we eventually become corrupt #bcm325
@danielle_godden This could be a stretch my glasses are technology too, protects our vulnerable human eyes from sun damage. I guess you could follow that trope into the future and predict what new technologies will wear that will enhance our human abilities
What are your thoughts on surveillance in the future? Do you think there will be an abundance? Do you think there’s surveillance now that we’re not even aware of? #bcm325
so Alita had a flashback, which means she has memories. #BladeRunner and ##GhostInTheShell explore the idea that memories = human. this film definitely seems to try harder than most to convince us that cyborgs are just as human as us #bcm325
