@krassenstein Well he's hoping they'll stop bringing drugs to the US. Nothing else has really stopped them. If death is something they need to worry about then they'll think twice about trying to make the run.
@Goatboy991994@acnewsitics So I'm just wondering who you think works for the commander and chief? The serve the country yes, but do the people give them orders? Does congress? The Supreme Court? No who gives the military orders? The president, then Hegseth, Joint Chiefs and down the line.
@patton_cascadia@acnewsitics Because they're being called out. Hegseth is saying what all their subordinates are thinking. Most of them, practically all of them could retire right now and live quite well on their pensions.
@darkwingfella@acnewsitics Correct, but tell me how having to abide by set standards is illegal? AR 600-9 applies to everyone, it was like that when I was in. Show me the orders that were illegal.
@PSeacroft44988@acnewsitics Their oath is to the constitution yes, but there is still a chain of command in the military. If you think officers don't have to follow orders you're incorrect. The only way they can is if it is proven to be unconstitutional.
@errolbsk@acnewsitics Correct, but what if I told you there was this thing called chain of command? Do you think that as an officer or enlisted you get to pick an choose what orders to follow?
@GOPofTreason@acnewsitics You're confusing their oath with general military etiquette. If you're a lieutenant, and a captain gives you an order you follow it. If it isn't constitutional they can chose not to, but also face court martial if it is indeed found to be lawful. Orders are not optional.
