@BarristerSecret@CharlesECarey It is draconian to keep legal knowledge precedents and intel behind paid walls or exclusively for certain classes of people ordinary litgants in person are ridiculed and mocked by the elitist legal system but have no access to forms procedures and precdents knowledge is power
@BarristerSecret@CharlesECarey Agree entirely: all EU legislation is posted on the internet free of charge and up to date. UK primary legislation can be accessed free in most cases but not up to date. To be up to date and complete in the UK requires a subscription service. It’s time for change.
Large parts of https://t.co/pmMDqq0siY remain out of date and inaccurate. @BAILII does a brilliant job, but is a charity and dependent on contributions, and so is limited by funding. As more and more people are forced to self-represent, the need for full access to law is vital.
One to follow for Legal Twitter: @CharlesECarey is running for Parliament to raise awareness of the need for free, comprehensive and up-to-date public access to our legislation.
It sounds niche, but is fundamental. The lack of public access to the text of the law is a disgrace.
Helping my amazing uncle with this campaign. Citizens of a democracy should have FREE access to the accurate and up to date text of the laws by which they are governed. It is shocking that this is not the current situation @CharlesECarey#LewishamEast@BarristerSecret
There are commercial ways of accessing the up-to-date legislation, but it ought to be free.
This issue has been sidelined for years, but millions of tax payer's pounds have been spent on it. Let’s put it right now. With your vote, this can change! #LewishamEast#Byelection#Vote
