Conditions were perfect for two days to create a winter wonderland. In a cloud for two days, maybe 300 feet visibility, snow for a day and then the cloud freezing on top of the snow. No sun since two days ago.

For reference Wilkesboro and Lenior are 1,000 feet, the "ridge" of the Blue Ridge is 3,500 and high mountains, such as Roan and Grandfather, are 5,000.

September is a good time to visit the mountain. The air is crisp and cool. Too early for leaf peepers. Might be thunder storms (and they are nice to watch roll through)
