Every voter deserves confidence that his or her ballot won’t be thrown out for partisan aims. The current rules for rejecting a voter-ID exception form require unanimous, bipartisan agreement — a commonsense system that instills people’s trust in the process. A vote is discarded only if county board members from both parties unanimously agree. Under the new Republican rules, the Republican majority on each county board can unilaterally throw out a voter’s ballot. The Auditor’s State Board of Elections must stop its partisan assault on the integrity of our elections.
