THEO VON: “Was there anybody who was immune to COVID-19?”
DR. MCCULLOUGH: “There’s one adult group. You’re going to laugh.”
[Theo Von listens closely for the reveal]
DR. MCCULLOUGH: “Smokers… They got very mild cases. And they don’t get long COVID.”
THEO VON: “Why?”
MCCULLOUGH: “Because smokers maintain a level of nicotine in the bloodstream… Smoking blocks the spike protein. It’s amazing. I thought smokers were going to go down.”
THEO VON: “Do you think that’s a good idea [to use nicotine patches] on a regular basis?”
DR. MCCULLOUGH: “I think [it’s a good idea] if they have long COVID... Nicotine, don’t forget, is a nootropic. A nootropic is a drug that makes the brain function more effectively... It’s addictive, but it’s not harmful to the human body... Nicotine patches are perfectly safe.”
Submission As Adornment
"Biblically speaking, submission is a demeanor of adornment. A craven wife is not a submissive wife. Being cowed is not being submissive. A wife who flinches (inside or out) when her husband speaks is not a submissive wife . . . The world's hatred of the word submission is actually the world's hatred of loveliness in wives—the world hates true adornment" (For a Glory and a Covering, p. 45).
There was a time when destroying the healthy reproductive organs of minor children was considered by everyone to be macabre and farcical.
This is from SNL in the 80’s. It’s incredible given what our culture has devolved to today.
I couldn’t laugh at this.
If you hear that a gunman shot up a peaceful religious celebration, and that a number of people were killed, and you need to wait until you find out whether it happened at a mosque, synagogue, or church before you know what to think of it . . . then you have a central part in our cultural problem, and you are spiritually in a terrible place.
The Grace of White Privilege
So don’t waste your whiteness.
If you were born into this world with this particular privilege, then it is your solemn obligation to be a good steward of that privilege. This, mind you, is privilege in God’s world, not privilege in that pretendy world of the envious, where carping and clawing are the rule, and where every privilege is assumed to be obtained at the expense of somebody else.
If it is actual privilege, then a Christian has the responsibility to steward it with a grateful spirit of noblesse oblige. And of course noblesse oblige that is patronizing or supercilious isn’t noblesse oblige at all. However, if it is the faux-sin of whiteness that the guilt-mongers are hurling at you, then you have the responsibility to just laugh at them and go on your way. And a black man with privileges that I don’t have, but who has the same spirit of gratitude, should do exactly the same thing. We serve the same kind God, and we are not chafed by anything that God decided to give to somebody else.
If God has given you something, then you must not accuse Him of being a hard master, and then go off and bury it in a handkerchief (Luke 19:10). Although, actually, if we want to keep this parable current with the times, that worthless servant would have to go off to some designated safety zone at his college, wrap his whiteness in a handkerchief, give it to the trained counselor, and spend a soothing hour coloring pictures of the therapy puppies.
But the reason the master judges him out of his own mouth in this retold parable is because he didn’t put his whiteness in the handkerchief at all. That entire hour was suffused in whiteness, from the ceiling to the floor, from the front door to the back door, and included the therapist, the coloring books, all the woke business, the hurt feelings, the appropriation of victimhood, the lot. He couldn’t have spent a whiter hour than if he had gone off to the Benjamin Moore factory to dive head first into a vat of White Diamond OC-61.
I continue to see Christian colleges and universities using images of women to promote themselves.
Perhaps they’ve not gotten the memo that most young men already consider them hostile to men.
Peruse the numbers and you’ll see that many Christian colleges are nearly 2/3 female already.
Young men have largely given up on college because of a range of factors—one of them being their unwillingness to submit to egalitarian indoctrination for 4 plus years.
If anything, Christian colleges should be focused on reaching young men, not doubling down on what alienates them.
"There are many good people who are denied the supreme blessing of children, and for these we have the respect and sympathy always due to those who, from no fault of their own, are denied any of the other great blessings of life. But the man or woman who deliberately foregoes these blessings — such a creature merits contempt as hearty as any visited upon the soldier who runs away in battle."
— Theodore Roosevelt, in a speech to the National Congress of Mothers (1905)
NEWS UPDATE
Here’s something remarkable that went almost unnoticed earlier this year.
Papua New Guinea has officially amended its constitution to declare itself a Christian Nation, with an overwhelming vote of 80 to 4.
The amendment adds a declaration to the preamble of the Constitution:
“We acknowledge and declare God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit as our Creator and Sustainer of the entire universe, and the source of our powers and authorities, delegated to the people and all persons within the geographical jurisdiction of Papua New Guinea.”
Christianity will also now be reflected in the Fifth Goal of the Constitution, and the Bible will be recognised as a national symbol.
In a world drifting fast from truth, it is deeply moving to see a nation publicly acknowledging the triune God as the foundation of its identity and authority.
🚨🚨 A Christian publishing company is offering to buy Christianity Today. I have heard many Christians lament that @CTmagazine has been captured by worldly ideology and wish someone would restore it to Billy Graham’s intended purpose.
Looks like @canonpress is trying to do exactly that. I obtained records this morning showing Canon put in a $10 million offer this morning to buy the magazine.
In its offer letter, Canon specifically cites Charlie Kirk’s spirit of evangelism as their motivation. Will be monitoring for further developments.
Charlie Kirk was courageous, and he was a true man. His was a very masculine courage.
In his book Orthodoxy, Chesterton summarized this principle of courage nicely: “Courage is almost a contradiction in terms. It means a strong desire to live taking the form of a readiness to die.”
Charlie took the initiative. He went into the arena. He did not build an impressively large organization so that he might sit through endless board meetings, doodling on a yellow legal pad. As I said, he went into the arena. He was not the first Christian to surrender his life in that arena, and he most certainly won’t be the last.
And this man, the best of us, was a product of broad evangelicalism. Think about that for a minute. When the devil went after us, he went after the dangerous one—and the dangerous one came from quite an unexpected place. And so I would urge all the brothers who do their theology the way Mary Poppins cleans up nurseries—spit spot—to remember that Charlie had more active Kuyperianism in his little finger than the scores of edge-lords who love typing instead of doing. We can tell from how all this went down who was the first of us to get to the top of the scaling ladders. His name was Charlie.
A final note. While not knowing how time and eternity intersect, I am quite sure that Charlie is proud of his wife Erika. We certainly are.
If our nation has been in a secular humanist "exile" for the last 70 years, the Charlie Kirk Memorial seems to be the signal to “return to the land." All the highest leaders of our land gave their blessing: it is time to return to Christ. Let's get to work

My dear American friends,
We British Christians would get excited when, once a year, Queen Elizabeth would make a mild but sincere reference to the love of Jesus Christ in her Christmas address.
In Charlie Kirks' Memorial service, watched by tens of millions, I just heard:
- Multiple clear presentations of the gospel from men like @robmccoyus and @DrFrankTurek with clear calls to repentance and faith
- Worship songs full of Scripture sung by tens of thousands live and millions at home
- Personal testimonies of lives transformed by the work of Christ and the witness of believers
- Demonstration and explanation of the value of marriage, child-rearing and family
- Calls to Romans 13 for the government to bear the sword for the protection of good and punishment of the wicked
- Declarations of spiritual warfare on the forces of evil and promises to endure no matter the cost
- Calls to be prophets and call the nation to repent
- More Scripture references and Bible readings than I can count
- And a widow publicly forgiving her husband's killer because Christ forgave his killers on the cross.
All of it done before, and by, the most powerful people in your nation and the world.
You guys should be on your knees thanking God for your country. It is a light to the world.
Never stop fighting for it.
It’s clear. Jesus Christ wants America to be a Christian Nation.
Prove me wrong.
Millions are hearing the gospel from our nations’ leaders.
We must first repent. Lord send a revival and let it begin in me.
Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets - Luke 6:26
To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.
- Isaiah 8:20
People keep asking me to weigh in on the viral positive comparisons of MLK and Charlie Kirk.. so here goes owendcamp Telling the truth in love is the only way forward.
