I wish more people had read this book. I wish it had been reviewed by outlets that had previously reviewed my books. I wish it had been discussed by people who previously discussed my books. But it appeared in 2021. Not a year in which facing reality was in vogue.
“[It’s]a paradox: I want America to return to the ideal of treating people as individuals, so I have to write a book that treats Americans as groups. But there’s no way around it.”
Where does this 'less than 1%' figure come from, btw?
Has it been investigated, does anybody know?
And - if it is accurate - why tf are they all over social media, at every women's rights rally in their hundreds screaming abuse and threats at women, in every movie and television show made in the past 5 years, and - most importantly - having laws and public social practices changed in every country forcing the rest of us to adhere to their crackpot theories about sex and gender?!
And - what is a 'trans identity'?
Can you explain it all for us, Charles?
the answer is no (despite what the “ethicist” says in this piece) as it’s not okay to date other people while you are married. Hope this clears up any confusion
@AlexSmith90014@DerryBanShee Kinda hard to rape someone if your penis and testicles have been removed. And that's the tiny subset of male trans I'm talking about.
22. 569 house slaves defending a man who dreams of a "hereditarian revolution." They're defending "legacy", "lineage", the "right" to propagate racist pseudoscience from within the very walls that built it.
Less than 1 percent of males identify as trans. The percentage of them that undergo bottom surgery is a few percent max. What exactly is the menace in according this tiny fraction of people respect for the way they are trying to deal with their situation privately? Whereas I feel no respect at all for men who dress up as women and go to great lengths to force others to treat them as women.
Jan Morris had an overwhelming paraphilic compulsion that took over his life and the lives of everyone around him, as does Brianna Wu. It’s similar to an addiction. Taking female hormones and getting breast implants is part of the compulsion. The other major part is buy-in from everyone else. Please stop “cutting these men slack” or at the very least, read up on what (you think) you’re defending. We can’t afford to have so many prominent public voices get this so wrong.
"Nothing we are going to learn will diminish our common humanity. Nothing we learn will justify rank-ordering human groups from superior to inferior — the bundles of qualities that make us human are far too complicated for that. Nothing we learn will lend itself to genetic determinism. We live our lives with an abundance of unpredictability, both genetic and environmental." - @charlesmurray
(Worthy repeating because some people seem to be conflating factual claims -- whether true or false -- around average differences in intelligence between groups and normative claims about group superiority or inferiority.)
In the fall of 2004, in the middle of a presidential campaign, my daughter took a course in political philosophy at Middlebury. At thanksgiving, I asked her what the professor’s politics were. She thought for a minute and said “I don’t know.” Middlebury wasn’t always like this.
And a decade later, a beloved Middlebury professor trying to help me get to the car in the middle of a mob got a concussion. Words fail.
I thought I knew a lot about the technical lit on Jewish IQ. I'm startled by how much is out there that I hadn't encountered. Thank you for pulling it all together, @cremieuxrecueil. It's an amazing compilation. https://t.co/RpiBLqU5mS
@colwight Thanks, Colin. I did clarify what I meant by “slack” in a subsequent post. It boils down to respect and a willingness to call him her. She’s earned it. She’s not a woman, but she acknowledges that.
For those who are not aware of the story, Huck must choose between returning the runaway slave Jim or helping him stay free. Huck’s society and laws tell him it is a sin to help an escaped slave. Huck sees the evil and error of his society and laws compared to the goodness of Jim and the injustice of slavery. It is about not just moral courage, but absolute courage…and friendship.
Adventures of Huckleberry Finn was published in 1883 and written by a man who had fought for The Confederacy, Samual Clemens (Mark Twain).
