Please never, ever, ever say "our study is the first to do X." Likely, you are wrong, especially given lags in publication. Also, what's the value in being first? Better to be right, thorough, and careful.
We can’t resign ourselves to fatalism.
“People won’t wear masks.”
“They won’t get vaccinated.”
“There’s no political will.”
We must keep using our voices holding our electeds accountable. We have not nearly tried everything in the toolbox yet. We can’t give up.

Sacrifices must be made
we are sorry
you must cancel your plans
it is not safe
for you to gather
with friends and family
right now.
But keep your shoes on
your shift is starting soon
and your workplace
requires your presence.
You must make sacrifices
and be sacrificed as well.
