We need to be a serious nation.
The truth is we should be selling energy to Europe to alleviate their dependence on Russian oil. We should have done this 15 years ago, then 10 years ago, then five years ago and now we should finally do it today. We can reinvest profits into a number of areas including building out green economies of scale and expanding our military’s capacity. It has become abundantly clear that no one is coming to save us.
We should export LNG to Japan and other democratic counties in Asia and Europe. Our natural resources will be used, by us or by others. We should also build additional pipelines to the U.S. so we can get fair market value for our energy. And use some of these profits to establish refineries in Canada, recognizing it as the national security risk it is.
These actions will not only make the world a safer place and make our country stronger but it will give us more standing on the world stage to expedite issues that are important to us.
It will require a steady hand with an emphasis on pragmatism in place of virtue signalling.
It is the necessary work to protect our sovereignty in the short and long term. And the work should have started yesterday.

There should be a clear recruitment strategy from the Canadian government and industry to welcome the brain drain that is going to occur in the U.S. over the next year. There’s an opportunity to recruit some of the smartest people in the world in areas like infectious diseases, environmental research etc…
Will there be a plan? No.

I've studied fragile and failed states for most of my academic career. I never thought I would be living beside one.
Whether the US emerges from the Trump years as an intact liberal democracy remains to be seen, but it will never again be the "shining city upon a hill".
For those unsure, this is what authoritarians do right before they seize total control of a state.
Wait til you see what he’s going to do to the military.
Canada needs to take immediate steps to protect and secure any national security information shared with the United States, from the United States.
Ms. Gabbard is a Russian asset.
This is not a drill.
Disagree.
Gaetz at Justice is the clearest signal of authoritarian intent imaginable. Has no qualifications other than sharing Trump's desire for revenge at the rule of law.
He's a clown, to be sure — but plenty of 1930s fascists were clowns too.
As of now, NATO is effectively over. Why would any of our allies share intelligence with us when the head of National Intelligence is effectively in bed with Putin.
If Trump follows through with this it kills comprehensive intelligence sharing between European NATO states and the US.
Brits, French, Italians, Poles will all make sure to hold most sensitive information back.
Poland is preparing to establish a European alliance in support of Ukraine in response to Donald Trump’s anticipated return — Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk
“We will actively coordinate with countries that share our views on the geopolitical and transatlantic situation, as well as on Ukraine. No one seeks an escalation of the conflict, but Ukraine must not be allowed to weaken or capitulate, as this would pose a serious threat to Poland and our interests,” Tusk stated.
️The alliance could include the UK, Nordic countries, and the Baltics.
I hear Democrats say Trump voters will regret once Trump's tariffs devastate 🇺🇸economy & raise consumer prices.
But take it from Brits, people don't acknowledge they erred in a vote even after economic consequences. They'll always find others to blame than themselves. 🇬🇧#Brexit
