Dear students, when asking for an extension in your Astronomy 101 class it's probably a good idea to not still refer to the class as "Astrology 101" at this point in the semester.
Definitely setting my alarm for the launch of NASA's Artemis 1 uncrewed mission to the Moon which is scheduled for 6:33 am Mountain Time on Monday. Should be incredible to watch.

As an astronomer, I believe I am required to share this first image from JWST. That said, it is incredible and I'm looking forward to the additional images that are being released tomorrow.

Very cool astronomy news today as the second ever picture of a black hole was released this morning. This time, it is a picture of Sagittarius A*, the supermassive black hole at the center of our own Milky Way galaxy.

@ScriptOhio I'll be wearing mine too. I used to frequently get a cold after long flights. That greatly dropped when I started bringing my own wipes to clean surfaces at my seat pre-Covid. Now with that and masks, haven't gotten sick despite being on about 20 fights.
I hate that when I tell people that I lost a friend to Covid recently, the first response from almost everyone is to ask if my friend was healthy, as if I have to justify why he didn't deserve to die from Covid or why his death is a bad thing.
So since the nfl decided no tackling in the pro bowl, why didn't they go with flag football? They sponsor youth flag football leagues across the country
@AstroKatie @hisotalus @rachelgmarks @chrismbrand My department does technically factor in the number of papers we've reviewed in our evaluations but it doesn't move the score enough to matter unless you really were right on the border. At least it's something, I guess....
Dear NFL, mixing crews for the postseason is not a good move. Yes, you want the best people there but there is a huge value in the crew members working together and being used to each other. Small things like shifting coverage areas in certain situations matter.
