When you look at who was drafted around Nemec and Silayev and see the lack of development from Nemec, fans have the right to complain.
Especially when a guy taken AFTER Silayev was moved for Quinn Hughes.
When we pick a a dman with offensive skills like Simon Nemec, this fanbase cries rivers about his lack of defensive awareness & when we pick a dman with defensive skills like Anton Silayev, this fanbase cries rivers about his lack of offense.
How can you not love NJD Twitter!
I’m very happy the caveman way of “he big, must draft” is gone with Tom Fitzgerald and Dan MacKinnon.
They already a guy this size in Kevin Bahl and traded him for an aging goalie that Fitzgerald then extended for unknown reasons.
Devils have signed Silayev, 2024 10th overall pick. Draft position, size, and skating are huge pluses in terms of his projectability. Some big question marks around his KHL time, especially this past season when his ice time plummeted. Puck skills and hockey I.Q. might be issues.
In his final year in the Major Leagues, former pitcher Carlos Zambrano hit .176.
Henry Davis, who was selected first overall by the Pirates in 2021, is currently hitting .134.
The Chris Johnston Show (May 28): On New Jersey...
• Even if the report on Simon Nemec asking for a trade was false it doesn't mean he won't be traded. He will be looking for a long term contract similar to what Luke Hughes signed for.
• CJ says his sense is Dougie Hamilton is less likely to be moved now that Sunny Mehta has been hired. #njdevils #NHL
#Leafs Morgan Rielly leads our first Trade Targets 🎯 board of the offseason.
Six goalies on the board, including #LGRW Sebastian Cossa. Pair of young forwards. Impact defensemen.
Buckle up. A most interesting offseason beckons:

The search for a new goalie coach in New Jersey is underway. I asked around about a few names.
Replacing Rogalski: 3 Goalie Coaches the #NJDevils Could Pursue

Hmmm...team starts off rough to the point of rumors of Lindy's firing start to swirl, only for that team to go on a run, get into the playoffs, get bounced in the second round, and Lindy get's an extension?
Where have I seen this before....
#NEWS: The Devils announced today Goaltending Coach Dave Rogalski has been relieved of his duties.
Additionally, Assistant Coach Sergei Brylin will be taking on a new role within the organization.

Scott Stevens delivered a devastating hit to the Hurricanes’ Shane Willis near the end of Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals on April 15, 2001. The #NJDevils won, 2-0, at the Meadowlands to take a 2-0 series lead.
On 32 Thoughts, Elliotte Friedman says that he thinks Martin Brodeur is the #NJDevils acting GM and given his history with Jamie Langenbrunner, if Brodeur has any say on the next GM he would push for Langenbrunner.
The Los Angeles Kings have lost 44 times this season. They're one point out of a playoff spot.
The New Jersey Devils have lost 35 games this year. They're 10 points out of a playoff spot.
Sick system, Gary.
Including today, Paul Skenes has 6 career starts in which he has allowed 4 earned runs or more.
Skenes' numbers after those other 5 starts:
3-0, 1.55 ERA, 33K, 6BB, 1.00 WHIP. He'll be just fine, folks. #LetsGoBucs
