there is no justification for ethnic cleansing unless you believe, deep in your heart, that an entire population should not exist. I’ve never felt that way about any group of people. I can’t relate and I don’t want to. and i don’t appreciate being pressured into it.
Today at my job, I talked about how bad my anxiety has been lately and instead of sending me home and like being frustrated with me like I am used to, my boss asked if I wanted accommodations for my mental health. I'm??? Yes? Yes. That would be very helpful. Yes
Saying ‘hurt people, hurt people’ not only stigmatizes survivors but it makes survivors feel guilt and feel like a burden for having normal, natural emotions. And it excuses abuser’s abnormal unnatural behaviors.
"They" might give you sh*t for calling what you endured "abuse"-- but then "they" will turn around & give you sh*t for not leaving a relationship, job, or community sooner.
"They" don't get a vote on whether what you experienced hurt you.
Repeat as necessary.
"No one can make you feel (whatever) w/o your consent" really f*cked w/ me for a long time. It made me think the "only" reason I felt shame or other painful emotions was because I was "choosing" them.
And, of course, to consider the impact of other ppl or situations was "blame."
