This election is just beginning. We have little more than 100 days to deliver the most devastating electoral blow yet to Trumpism. If you believe in the Constitution, accountability under law, faith with our allies, upholding our elections, and character in our leaders—Trumpism needs to be defeated. If you believe in a sane Republican Party that champions ideas instead of marching to one man’s whims—Trumpism needs to be defeated. And not just barely, but by massive margins.
This national mission is exciting because it’s something we can all do together as Americans, no matter our party. We each owe it to our country to engage in this election with everything we have to deliver that defeat and reaffirm the basic things that have made America the greatest country in the world. I hope @KamalaHarris will recognize the historic opportunity she has to make this election about these things. Trump came out to his name in lights at the RNC—but this campaign should be about the country, not Trump. Harris should make sure that’s the choice for all voters: the country or Trump.
That is the fundamental question in this election—perhaps the only question. Are we still committed to our constitutional republic even when we disagree? Or are we so consumed by our differences that we are willing to turn over the keys to a con man who won’t respect our institutions and won’t adhere to the constitutional and legal limits on his authority and behavior?
We absolutely have to get this one right. We can debate our policy differences in 2028, but 2024 is about coming together to get us there.
Leave it all on the field. 🇺🇸
This tees up an important & historic moment for Kamala Harris. She has the opportunity to bring the country together. This is not a moment to offer radical policies or major departures from the status quo. The country just wants a stable bridge past Trump—that’s it. A life boat.
Happy thought for the day: The average spread of votes for Trump v. Haley across the six largest counties in Georgia was 71.8% to 25.2%. Trump lost a quarter of the Republican vote in our largest counties to someone who already dropped out of the race! @Principles_1st
Trademark lawyer friends - my article on the "why" questions in confusion surveys has been published in The Trademark Reporter. Same issue has a great piece by Jerre Swann summarizing the development of TM surveys over 4 decades.
Atlanta partner Charlie Henn recently contributed an article, “Why Ask Why? A Critical Assessment of an Historical Survey Artifact," to the September–October 2023 (Vol. 113 No. 5) issue of INTA's The Trademark Reporter.
