@thekenyatimes What are they doing? What are the products and services they offer or produce? What are the revenues? What are the profits? How many employees do they engage? Etc.
@EACCKenya There is a strong correlation between academic qualifications, related professional skills, work, performance & output(outcomes). A Mason for example, require different academic & professional training from an architect. Let us do what we qualify for otherwise we mess & cheat.
@tanuijohn ICT/IT technology ( computer & telecommunications) is a great tool that can unlock great opportunities through modern information systems. The science and technology behind ICT is very advanced. We rely on foreign technology. Like any other technology we can learn to apply ICT.
@ntvkenya Africans must build their own countries. South Africa is basically for south africans. They have not healed from the wounds inflicted by the whites ( foreigners ) who introduced apartheid. Create opportunities at home.
@tanuijohn My classmate in secondary school did his A level there, became school captain, worked in telecommunications sector & ended up as a lawyer. A neighbor, in my rural area, studied there also. She must be a good grandmother now. President Moi shock my hand once, a rare privilege.
@ICTAuthorityKE At least Kenya must meet required quality standards in the use of ICT technology. She does little in research & development of the technology ( hardware & software ) used in this sector. If we don't make an automobile, then learn to use and maintain it well. That is the idea.
@EngineersBoard Enginering in Kenya is more like an assembly job. Electrical engineer don't make transformers, structural steel they use, ICT the computers, mechanical the machines, etc. No engineering of the building blocks of engineering projects. More deliberate investment is needed here.
@thekenyatimes It is rumored that Argentina is the home of NAZI germans. They couldn't establish a pure caucasian race in Germany so they got an alternative in Argentina. They even say Hiltler escaped to Argentina. May be that partly explains why. It's racism, white supremacy.
@ntvkenya He reminds of Rev. Dr. Timothy Njoya of PCEA church when he was beaten and mishandled in Nairobi during one of the peaceful demonstrations. Later President Moi and the ruling elite were humiliated as they handed over to the incoming president Kibaki. Don't do it, next is you.
@ntvkenya To what extent does physical brutality go into curtailing protesters from expressing their legitimate grievances? Amin of Uganda didn't finally succeed. There must be well researched and scientific methods of dealing with protesters This is savagery.
@ICTAuthorityKE It's like borrowing world bank loan to train people how to drive automobiles. They don't train you how to manufacture or repair automobiles. The technology ( hardware and software ) used here is already made and developed elsewhere. We borrow billions to merely train to use.
@ICTAuthorityKE Great progress and necessary training. However, we notice that the contents of training , the underlying technology and money used are foreign, from the world bank. It is not a homegrown solution that use local ICT technology, financing through own tax revenues, etc.
@ntvkenya He has been running for centuries. One wonders how he coud maintain the form for such a long time in a fiercely competitive sport. The temptation is therefore to take some disallowed substances. He has entertained us for years. It's sad news.
@thekenyatimes For large buildings and professional independence, we however recognize the role quantity surveyors play in the construction process. It takes time, professional effort and knowledge to calculate the cost of building materials, labour, supervison, etc. It's a necessary field.
@thekenyatimes They can't design like architects & structural engineers do. Academically, they are not as smart as architects or engineers. Their courses are not so intellectually demanding. Can't those who do design also calculate cost of materials & supervision of construction? Redundant.
@thekenyatimes Salaries must be based on projects and the role individuals play in the implementation of the projects. Relevant academic, professional qualifications, training, experience and performance must determine public sector salaries. Many public servants are mere parasites. Bure.
@tanuijohn Correct. ICT has meaning if it is applied as a tool to make certain transactions economical . E-Citizen save time when, say, renewing driving license. No queues. Same with other ICT applications. Ict infrastructure, transport, water, electricity, etc should be treated the same.
@tanuijohn The science and technology behind computers & telecommunications ( ICT) is very advanced & mature. Kenya basically use foreign technology. For applications that are cyber secure, we need to train professionals to gather requirements, design, specify, implement & use ICT.
@tanuijohn The science and engineering behind ICT ( IT) is computer & telecommunications. Cyber security must be considered at the design stage of ICT systems, not an afterthought Until we professionalize the ICT sector, cyber security will be a major problem. It's now open for everybody.
@tanuijohn We must separate digital transformation into two categories. One deals with the science & technology behind digital system. Research & development , education, training, etc. The other is applications. The user sees these applications as tools in their work. Effort on both.
