@Wirfs2Canton that's true and part of the reason why I thinking finding a high end t6 forward is important so that you coud put Gage with James and have your depth in better position. And then if you have injuries Gage can slot up in T6 with no issue.
@Wirfs2Canton You need to prepare yourself to have a couple of injuries and they really werent. Considering Holmberg was their only real injury I just think you need to be better prepared.
@Wirfs2Canton Sure but imo at the dealine they should have been more agressve improving their depth and they just added Perry. James was already injured at deadline (he did come back) and I think they didn't really insulate themselves as well as they should have.
@Wirfs2Canton I dont disagree with you that depth is better but I still think they can upgrade someone for the James line and bring in a more needle moving player in their T6.
@Wirfs2Canton All points valid, I do think though the point is to build/slot everyone the bes you can and bring picky about it so tha when you have injuries it doesn't decimate you. Losing Holmberg should not have been enough of a reason to lose.
@Wirfs2Canton Considering their depth is arguably the bigges reason they lost to Montreal with how poorly they performed and now competing with FLA and CAR you need to have elite depth and can't settle. The margins are so tight and every player and line can't have liabilities
@Wirfs2Canton I am worried even if he stinks they will just give him the role to justify the signing and the fact that he is "tough" and "fights" like they did with Douglas and Sabourin last year
@Wirfs2Canton If he comes out and looks awesome then fine. But he does not have nearly long enough of a sample size for me to trust that. This was his first full time role in nhl at age 29. I remember Rafaël Harvey-Pinard was similar a couple years ago then faded.
@Wirfs2Canton They should not play Viel above better players simply because they paid him more. That bad process wise. If Geekie, Pelltier, and/or O'Reilly all look better in training camp/preseason than Viel they should all be above him.
@Wirfs2Canton If Geekie is not ready for the nhl this yea then they should just use him an trade package to get a T6 forward becausehe should be ready now. Pelltier I really like and dont see why they keep trying to block him and not give him more of a look.
@Wirfs2Canton yeah that's fair, i dont have any issue with them playing more minutes. what I am saying is that the James line needs to be a dangerous scoring line like the Coleman line used to be so that the Gourde line has less pressure to produce offensively.
@Wirfs2Canton Well whether James line is L3 or L4 that line needs to be the more consistent scoring line. right now I see it as Pelltier Geekie and James.
@Wirfs2Canton A lot and be very valuable, but from an offensive perspective they will not have ceiling that the Coleman line had. Thats where I think improving offensive capabilities of the James line is important.
@Wirfs2Canton Gourde line should play hard minutes against best offensive lines. With Mikayhev now that line should in theory and hopefully if he bounces black be able to drive play better and have a little more skill/finishing. Whether they are techincally 3rd or 4th line they will play...
@Wirfs2Canton Considerng rumors this summer, Darche having already made some mistakes so far, and their likely regression next season he very well could be available.
