You can import a brand new 2024 Toyota Corolla into the US and pay around $880 in import duty. But if you import a used 2024 Toyota Corolla into Ghana, you could pay around $4,500 in import duty. That is absolutely ridiculous. Even Canada sometimes allows eligible immigrants to import a vehicle duty free during their first year. The import duties in Ghana are simply not reasonable, more like robbery!

In an extraordinary act of selflessness, Dr. Ama Antwiwaa Adu-Appiah, the Medical Officer who was gifted Gh¢20,000 for accepting posting to the Paga Hospital has used the fund to procure medical equipment and supplies for the hospital.

The items include three nebulizers, two blood pressure monitoring machines, one fetal Doppler machine, one vein finder, one haemoglobin analyzer, five drip stands, five ward screens, one baby weighing scale, perfuser lines, two Veronica buckets, two handwashing basins, six rolls of cotton wool and four packs of bottled water.
