I’ve always been bullish on autonomous vehicles and have been rooting for Waymo (owned by Google), Tesla, and others to succeed. Now that I’ve experienced it, I’m more confident than ever that robotaxis and fully self-driving consumer vehicles are the future. I'm all in.
Things I loved about my first Waymo ride:
✔️ 7 guilt-free minutes to get to the car
✔️ No driver = total freedom to talk on the phone or with friends
✔️ Full control of music, climate, etc.
✔️ Car quality was top-tier
✔️ No tipping pressure
✔️ Smooth overall ride
@anshgupta64 So where do the POS systems fit in? The squares of the world? Or any of the e-commerce players trying to create their own payment network, like Shopify?
“Almost 40% of young people, when they’re looking for a place for lunch, they don’t go to Google Maps or Search. They go to TikTok or Instagram.” - Google SVP Prabhakar Raghavan
To me, Google’s platform is worse than ever - the first 5 results of every search are now “Ad”.
Limited motivation to improve the experience given the non-existent competition.
Hard to compete when this $15B is more than the revenue of every other search engine combined.
