Fantasy and reality! The council promise a “drainage pond that will provide new habitat for a number of species” & the planting of “native trees, shrubs and other plants." The REALITY in the NDR? Dead saplings and a fly tipped drainage pond. FAILED mitigation & habitat creation!
@acorns_magic @CharloArculus@ChristinaMacRae Thank you Charlotte and Christina for a readable, deep-think piece. Developmental narratives in Ed ARE tragic. Cue the comic, ambiguous, uncomfortable, aesthetic and magical. Bags of it!
What a great way to culminate this great Special Issue that affirms and re-frames toddlers/toddlerdom: CODA: Seismic knots of (un)knowing “toddler”(s) - Janice Kroeger, Julia Persky, Jayne Osgood, 2022 https://t.co/IhnowOz611
@HelenMoylett@ian_cushing The trouble is that research claims have already been made and programmes using LENA can just be bought in ( with public money) and deployed without ethics committees.
Here is a 'talk pedometer' - a device which is strapped to a child's body to record the amount of words they use, to measure the 'quality' of the linguistic input they experience, and to determine whether disadvantaged children require remedial-based 'word gap' interventions.
"body and place co-constitute each other in so many ways that the boundaries are unclear, and language is wrapped up in this" @AbiHackett

"Through...exuberant activity, rituals and routines are created, and friendships and peer cultures are built on an always emergent complicity-in-action."
Gorgeous paper by @CharloArculus@ChristinaMacRae on clowning, awkwardness, playful toddler bodies & all their potentials☺️

Agree. I have written about neuromyths that circulate in music education. And to neurobiology I would add many aspects of cognitive psychology that are currently circulating in education. There are no silver bullets to learning, it's a complex, relational, contextual process.
Imagine this #Norfolk woodland replaced by a viaduct and an 8 metre high embankment. No more ancient parish boundary oaks. This #Norfolk landscape will be lost under concrete and tarmac. Is this what you want @NorfolkTories ? Coming soon with the Norwich Western Link road!
It’s worth revisiting this thread to be reminded of how prone @norfolkcc is to giving a false colouring of the facts when it comes to ecology and road building. #stopthewensumlink
A depressing future? We have a choice to say ‘no’ to yet more roads, yet more infilled development, yet more habitat loss. This bat will lose its woodland home. Write to your Norfolk County Councillor to ask them to rethink the Norwich Western Link. #stopthewensumlink
Norfolk County Council, out of tradition, habit and pursuit of infinite capitalist growth plans to build a road through ancient woodland and barbastelle bat territory. It's down to the people to stop this redundant project. RT please. Or post yourself using #stopthewensumlink
