These festive scraps come from two scrapbooks in the @Powerhouse Collection, both thought to have been compiled by children between 1880 and 1890.
Some of the treasures on display this evening for the CMRS gathering @CRC_EdUni - the exquisite 11th C Celtic Psalter with its extraordinary illuminations in vivid green, red, purple and gold & the 16th C Aberdeen Breviary ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

17 Fleet Street is a unique Jacobean survivor of the Great Fire of London in 1666.
In the 20th century, its original timber-framed frontage was discovered, and its windows were reconstructed to appear in their original form.
Hard not to smile back at actress/opera singer Louise Jacquet, as she looks up at us engagingly from reading an admiring letter, in this exceptional pastel portrait by Jean-Étienne Liotard (c 1750). Check out the fine detailing on her clothes, too

#OnThisDay. 19th July 1545, The Mary Rose sank during the Battle of the Solent, just a few miles from the coast of Portsmouth.
Of her 500 crew, only around 30-40 were saved. The Mary Rose Museum is dedicated to those who lost their lives that day.
