@SkylarkHolly Good question.....1st post doc was a 6 month contract- honestly can't remember exactly how much I was paid, but around £30-35k at UCL. Currently 3.5y on and on around £41k including London allowance (still UCL)

Our fantastic @Charlotte__MJ has been hosting #outreach workshops at St Peter’s Primary School, Folkestone for pupils from 4-11 yrs old; running hands-on experiments creating rainbows & shadows, & the importance of UV light; all part of the @royalsociety Partnership Grant

At at outreach activity, a year 3/4 kid asked me what would happen if you mixed red light with purple light? What colour would it make? (We were learning how rainbows are made)

I couldn't answer, but said I would try to find out for them and let them know!

Nov 2020 baby. No walk in baby health clinics. No face to face BF support. Turned away from 2 HV appointments being told I was making a fuss over nothing (as my 98th centile baby plummeted to 20th centile), 16 weeks finally diagnosed with 75% ant TT. Still feeding now.

Loving hearing about mothers now winding down breastfeeding toddlers after a QUOTE “pretty tough Covid-baby-bugger-all-support start”. These parents are some of my heroes.

I provide free science outreach to schools in my area, and last week i delivered an interactive session on light to a little town centre school near where i live. The kids LOVED it, and got to play with lasers and spray bottles of water. Half way through......1/

.....i was shocked. I knew funding for schools was bad, but I had no idea it was at the point of a school being so short of money, they can't even afford board rubbers (couple of quid max). Anyway, it made me sad.......4/
