It’s something in her past that has made her be overly cautious of spending. It is definitely worth talking about with her. First go into it looking at the good side, she may have a substantial savings by living so frugal. Is there anything she finds important enough to be splurging on? However, you need to let her know that it affects you by her being extremely frugal such as movie night. If she cares for you she would compromise which is what ppl do in relationships. If she want to be a spendthrift with her own life that’s fine but when sharing time with you she would need to not be as frugal when it comes to food, gifts, and outings. Let her know when you are sharing your time she has to compromise and let you make some decisions especially if you are willing to pay or gift her well. If she has a problem with compromise then she may have an issue with letting go of control. If it someone you plan to be with see a couples therapist if she resists compromising. Otherwise, don’t let too much time go by without talking about it and then making a decision to stay in the relationship or not. Good luck.
