The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi are fantastic companion films. If the production of The Rise of Skywalker wasn't based on the studio being reactionary to online outrage and didn't abandon the vision of those two films, we wouldn't have gotten such a disastrous finale.

Steven Soderbergh says he and Adam Driver are “frustrated” that THE HUNT FOR BEN SOLO was not made.
“That was two and a half years of free work for me and Adam and Rebecca Blunt…The stated reason [from Disney] was, ‘We don’t think Ben Solo could be alive.’ And that was all we were told. And so there’s nothing to do about it, you know, except move on.”
