@wjvprw@sales_belinda Actually have a great circle of friends. Even the minority who disagree with me about the PM and current govt. We disagree, but respect the fact we can disagree without being insulting to each other. We agree to disagree and move on. Life is so much more enjoyable that way π
Not at all. Everyone entitled to an opinion. Im calling those who repeatedly say everyone in the country hates the PM and Labour is insane because that is clearly not the case or the truth. I fully respect those who think he is doing a bad job. I just assess my life and the life of those around me and I feel far better off now than I have done at any point in the previous 14 years. But again that is just my opinion and if yours is different then we agree to differ.
I'm of the firm belief that pensions should be left alone as people have paid in for years with that expectation when they retire, but I agree with you. Anyone contributing to their pension in 1990 should have realised that was paying foe someone elses pension in 1990/1991 not merely being left untouched for them to take back in 2026. The whole welfare state needs a overhaul but pensions need to be left alone. The generation needing them now, are my parents generation, one of the last where mums stayed home to look after the children and weren't in a position to put away for retirement. Pensioners need to be left alone. Child benefit, job seekers, elements of the NHS and who is eligible need to be changed.
Unfortunately its the blah blah blah you just mentioned that is the issue because that was the systematic and intended destruction of our public and armed services over 14 years leaving the country in such a bad state. I didn't any speech from Starmer to make my decision at the last election. Didnt listen to what any MP had to say. I'd seen the damage first hand over 14 years. I've also seen the start of a recovery in the last 2 under Labour.
In his strongest condemnation yet of the Trump-Vance war against Iran, Pope Leo XIV said today:
βWe are surrounded by a delusion of omnipotence thatβs becoming increasingly unpredictable and aggressive.β
βWe are met by threats instead of invitations to come together.
βThose who pray donβt threaten death. Death enslaves those who have turned their backs on God and turned themselves and their own power into a mute, blind, and deaf idol.
βThey demand the whole world bends their knee. Enough of the idolatry of self and money! Enough of the display of power! Enough of war!
βTrue strength is shown in serving life!β
@AllisonPearson Funny. I voted in last GE and I've not been asked and neither had any persn I know so unsure where this fake data is from.
But whilst I'm here. I voted Labour. I don't want Starmer out. I don't want a GE. He's doing best PM job in 15 years.
@FernandoAmandi The Pope really isn't the issue. It's the convicted felon occupying the Oval Office that is the problem. Remove that problem and a lot of the issues around the world are instantly solved.
The only thing the Pope is trying to "dictate" aka ask for, is peace not war. The commitment to working together for a better future for all and not one that sees a convicted criminal sat in the White House declaring wars leading to the deaths of innocent civilians of all faiths / non faith.
I urge everyone to accompany this moment of delicate diplomacy with prayer, in hopes that a willingness to dialogue may become the means to resolve other conflict situations in the world as well. #PrayTogether#Peace
@0hour1 We asked for help in 1939. You sent it in 1941, two years later and only after Japan attacked you. Oh and WW2 wasn't an illegal war we started π€·ββοΈ
No longer a fan of the Tories, switched my vote at the last GE and not convinced about Kemi as leader or at least a future PM but I have to admit, this could prove a master stroke with the electorate. So many people who voted for Brexit did so in the hope it would lead to us leaving the ECHR and they could easily vote for the Tories next time based on this alone - even more so if ties with Europe increase under Labour.
Had he not had such a high cabinet position under Johnson, had beaten Truss initially, I think he could have turned things around for the Tories and won the next GE. He was tainted by the lies during Covid and the debacle of Truss. By that point the public were voting away from the Tories regardless of who was in charge.
I honestly think this is why they are pressing ahead with the visit. It's clear Trump won't entertain Starmer so to keep relations between the UK and America strong, I believe the King will speak privately with Trump and lay out his expectations of him and America with regards the UK, Canada and other commonwealth countries. That is my hope anyway.
My grandparents would be well over a hundred if still alive so back when he worked, yes they did. Well apart from when he was fighting for his country in WW2. Something else the current generation couldn't do.
Even today I work well beyond the 40 hour week, but then again I had good role models who instilled a certain work ethic in me.
My dad worked a 60 hour week for most of my childhood. My grandparents worked 60 hour weeks before they retired and when I was at University I worked 12 hour shifts on a weekend to earn money. Why can't the current generation work like the previous ones instead of believing themselves entitled. Current generation lack the ability to work long hours, to a high standard or be told no or be criticised.
