@Rinston99@WithLabor@souljagoyteller You began this by arguing that only systematic mass killings are genocide, ergo US use of atomic weapons would qualify.
@Rinston99@souljagoyteller Beyond what Ruk & UnionLabor have said, this on its own doesnt absolve one of genocide. Evacuation routes can assist the crime (targeting the routes, deportation for the sake of ethnic cleansing, etc) & the US is far more of a shield against criticism than restraint.
@Rinston99@souljagoyteller Mass killing is not the same thing as genocide, there is certainly overlap but it is the intentional targeting of a specific *group* rather than a broad "civilian population."
@radisheater1@souljagoyteller He is though. He has been very clear he is not a socialist. Socdem maybe but still this is the existing alternative in Dem politics.
No it doesnt but it does mean theres little reason for people to listen.
@radisheater1@souljagoyteller I dont think tankie is accurate here, but no just that youre kinda screwed politically if the only move is "support party leaders". Im not a lib so Im good with DSA increasing control, but what few libs are offering alternatives are viciously attacked by the party (like AES).
@radisheater1@souljagoyteller I think it leaves you at a disadvantage, rudderless maybe. W/O a viable alternative & stuck supporting a status quo that is increasingly unpopular to dem voters with no mvmt. Kind of like left politics in the US the last few/several decades.
@radisheater1@souljagoyteller Im not asking that either, just that if theres only 1 true lib politician you can definitively say you like, youre wasting energy fighting party realignment/demsocs/etc
@radisheater1@souljagoyteller Are there no liberal politicians you support who aren't antizionist? And I see that as a failure of lib parties to meet the moment
@the_waldman@souljagoyteller No risk at all. The best case scenario for you is that Israel is still responsible for war crimes & crimes against humanity, just not the crime of genocide. The only one risking is you & youre too stupid or malignant to care.
@radisheater1@souljagoyteller I mean, continuous wars in MENA for decades tends to cause that, & the voter voting against electeds is not doing whataboutism on Ukraine nor Assad. These are things I also dont care for but the majority positions already lean my way so its not as big of an issue.
@radisheater1@souljagoyteller It already exists. Theyre the ones voting against elected dems in primaries & telling polls repeatedly their views, party leadership that promote your politics outside this issue is who refuses to budge or only do so tepidly.
@radisheater1@souljagoyteller OK then lose I guess? And no I think youre imagining a different complaint. You also seemed to sidestep how dems can easily avoid being called murderous as it doesnt require much effort.
@radisheater1@souljagoyteller Sure but you gotta do a better job than "theyre not real dems." & if elected dems dont want to be called murderous I think there's very easy steps they can take to correct that, no?
@radisheater1@souljagoyteller No my issue is youre complaining about something that has continously happened in the Dems as if it's new & vulgar and not how US parties have changed over the decades.
@radisheater1@souljagoyteller Like, youre complaining about something the third way types & centrists also did to wrestle control of the party away from new dealers & proper liberals. This is how US parties work.
@radisheater1@souljagoyteller Sure they just fundamentally do not count as outsiders, theyre members. There is no party line (b/c its not a normal party) that membership is required to follow, nor electeds. Groups within the Dems have that instead.
