Claude Opus 5: Launching Today

- Claude Opus 5 is scheduled to launch today (Thursday for most time zones), assuming there are no last-minute delays.
- As I mentioned earlier, Anthropic has been targeting a Thursday release.
- Benchmark performance will be comparable to Fable 5, but won't surpass it.

Beginning July 20, Claude Fable 5 will be included in all Max and Team Premium plans, at 50% of limits.

Pro and Team Standard users will continue to have access to Fable via usage credits, and will receive a one-time $100 credit.

Demand for Fable has been challenging to predict, which is why we rolled it out to subscription plans in stages, extending access several times as we secured additional capacity.

In my absence:

Claude kicked off a deep research workflow.

Spun up 91 subagents, all running Opus 4.8.

Burned 2.5 million tokens.

And was still going.

Austin’s Claude community really showed up on Monday for ATX’s official Claude Code meetup! With a line out the door, over 150 people came out to learn, share, and collaborate on all things Claude! It felt like one big happy family. ☺️ The energy in the room was electric! ⚡️

Been sitting on this update for a few days. Finally got the time to give it my full attention. 🙌

The prev event curation was effective, yet missed key events. And the learning -> action loop was broken.
