Category 5 Hurricane #Milton has 175-mph maximum sustained winds, making it the strongest hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico since Rita in 2005.

It will continue to track over bath-warm waters, with sea-surface temperatures above 80 and 85ºF in the Gulf, plenty warm to sustain a major hurricane on its path toward Florida.
