It took a year to write, and a lot of tears, but I was just awarded a Lowell Thomas Journalism Competition gold medal from the @satw for my @outsidemagazine story about my dad's disappearance at sea. Beaming. https://t.co/RI2hrEXab0
Train ride into #NYC: 1 hour 40 mins. Number of times I heard “This is What You Came For” blaring on repeat from someone’s headphones: >25. #gettingfiredup#aaaahhhh
In May '17, my dad disappeared in the middle of the #PacificOcean while #singlehanding a #sailboat. @outsidemagazine let me tell his aching and important story. And, it's online today. https://t.co/RI2hrFeLzA
"Dad loved us—that’s why he compromised on how he wanted to live. His obsession with the boat and the trip suddenly made sense to me. He wanted to reclaim his life." @AliCarrTroxell @outsidemagazine https://t.co/FO1lpNVfjO
@bvi_sailor The CO poisoning idea has come up since the story came out. I didn’t come across it in my reporting but it certainly aligns with what went on. Thanks for suggesting it too. We won’t know for sure but it helps to have plausible scenarios.
