Serious journalism demands precision, depth, and unflinching accountability, and every decision matters.
You’re not just reporting facts. You’re shaping history, holding power to account, and informing the public with nuance rather than noise.
True productivity isn't about manually slogging through years of archives. It lies in masterful information work: skillfully analysing data, distilling meaningful insights, and linking past knowledge to present situation.
Instantly transcribe interviews and recordings with high accuracy, dive into powerful research features for fact-checking and background, highlight key quotes, tag themes, and collaborate with your reporters/colleagues in real time.

In 2024, @CJIDAfrica launched the AI in Journalism Fellowship, which pioneered newsroom-focused AI tools such as @ChatJourno. Building on that success, we are refining our approach in 2025 by introducing the new AI in Journalism Incubator, dedicated to building innovative AI tools for journalism as part of @aicollectiveng . This evolution allows us to strengthen our resolve to enabling the creation of AI-driven solutions for Africa’s newsrooms.
The call for applications to this year’s Incubator is now open. Successful participants will be grouped with data scientists, journalists, and technology experts to co-design AI tools aimed at transforming media and journalism practice.
Each team will receive mentorship, funding, and the opportunity to showcase their prototypes at CJID’s annual conference and several other platforms.
