@DerkGently@henrymance Not necessarily. Working with government (any persuasion) and running a department requires deep understanding of how the political world works. Someone who knows their way around Whitehall should not be discounted. However, political nepotism for the sake of it shouldn’t happen
@henrymance Totally agree. Running a government department is challenging at best and all governments have given jobs to ex politicians because they already have a working relationship. I much rather us challenge a government if the person they reject was better suited. Oxbridge or not
