The issue you rise with the wings is called fatigue, and has been extensively tested and investigated in the worst scenarios for planes to be safe now
@GustavoBolson@chris3_14@thephysicsgirl@chris your way of thinking is good in the case of two springs set in parallel. Then the weight is shared between both, depending on their elasticity so that they have the exact same elongation.
If they are put in a row (head to tail of you prefer), they support the same weight
@chris3_14@scttr_Brane@thephysicsgirl@GustavoBolson Nothing is absorbed. If you put 1kg on a scale on a table, the scale will "see" 1kg, the top of the table will see 1kg, the ground will see 1kg, and so on. Otherwise it breaks mechanics fundamentals.
It's not because your car has springs over the wheels that it weights less.. :)
